Can a Christian ever be sinless and perfect in this life?
Today I will be teaching you by The Spirit of God regarding the false doctrine of the sinless perfection of us humans.
There is a false teaching that is going around now in our day that says Christians after they get saved can be sinless. I’m here to tell you by the Spirit of God that the sinless perfection of human's doctrine is demonic and is in direct conflict with the Holy Scriptures! Humans who are born into sin (which is everyone by the way) can never be sinless in our current sinful tainted defiled bodies. Never!
No human in this life is sinless nor ever will be except The sinless Only Begotten Son of God JESUS CHRIST.
People of the world we need the grace of God to be saved initially, and we need the grace of God to keep us saved (Ephesians 2:8-9). Why is this one may ask? This is because we are all sinners who sin against God constantly knowingly and unknowingly!
I had someone tell me that Christians after they get saved can be sinless at some point in their lives. This person’s logic is that a Christian can get so close in his or her relationship with God that he or she can be like Christ. This person said the bible says that we Christians are like Christ in this world, and the bible says with God all things are possible (I will address these two statements later in greater detail in this bible study). But what does the bible say about us sinful humans? Does the bible teach that once a person gets saved that they can ever be sinless in this earth even though they have their current sinful tainted defiled bodies? The answer is a resounding no and I will prove this with the Holy Word of God. Let God be true and every man a liar (Romans 3:4).
Advocates of Sinless Perfection are either 1 of 5 things. 1.They’re either lost (meaning they are not saved at all, meaning they do not have a personal relationship with Jesus). 2. They’re either a false prophet (who is lost) knowing full well that they are preaching false doctrine. 3. They’re ignorant of the Holy Scriptures or this person does not believe the Bible on what the bible says about this matter (This is because the bible plainly teaches the exact opposite of the sinlessness of us humans. God goes into detail of how wicked and evil we are apart from him (Jeremiah 17:9) (Isaiah 64:6) (Matthew 7:11) (James 3:8) (John 8:7) (Romans 3:9-23) (Psalm 51:5). 4. They’re in fact a believer they just got deceived later in their Christian walk by false doctrine. 5. They’re Demons teaching this false doctrine to deceived humans who then tells other humans these demonic lies. The bible says in the last days people will teach and believe doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1)!
Let’s go through some key vital bible verses here below that will prove we are sinful and wicked to the core apart from Christ and indwelling power of The Holy Spirit.
Ecclesiastes 7:20
20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Psalm 51:5
5 For I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.
Romans 3:10
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
James 3:2, 8
2We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.
8 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
Romans 14:23
23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
1 John 5:17
17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
James 2:10
For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God's laws.
James 1:14-15
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
1 Timothy 1:8-10
8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
There is no one like the Lord God no not one.
We humans who are born into sin and shapen in iniquity have a sinful nature that will never be eradicated as long as we live in our current bodies. Only God, I repeat Only God alone is holy in his nature. There is no one like the Lord God no not one. Look at the Holy Scriptures below that prove this to be true.
Exodus 9:14
that you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth.
There is your proof from the Holy Word of God that there is none like the Lord God in all the earth. It just doesn’t get any plainer and clearer than that. Let’s go on……………
1 Samuel 2:2
"No one is holy like the LORD”
Isaiah 40:25
"To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?" says the Holy One.”
I love this verse. The Holy Lord God says, “To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One. Remember I said earlier that a person once told me that we Christians can be sinless after we get saved because the bible says we are like Christ in this world (1 John 4:17)? Well the Holy Spirit has again triumphed through the Word of God and has proven that we are not sinless and even if it were possible (which it isn’t in this life) there is no one like the Lord God anyway. I love the Person of The Holy Spirit because He has just proved unto us through this passage of Scripture that there is no one Like the Lord and there is no one who is His Equal. Again, God says “To whom then will you liken Me?
.
Isaiah 55:8-9
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
People of the world The Triune God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is in a category all by himself. No one is like the Lord nor is anyone equal to him. It is blasphemous to even think such a thing. Anyone who says they are sinless and perfect (regardless if they supposedly call themselves Christians) has just sinned by that very statement alone. It is beyond arrogant and prideful to ever make such a claim. In fact, this is exactly how the Devil (Satan) was kicked out of heaven and forever lost and forfeited his glorious heavenly position. Satan is the author of sin, and what did the devil say and do that caused sin to control him that ultimately led to him being kicked out of heaven? Satan was kicked out of heaven because of his pride. He no longer wanted to be a servant of God. Satan desired (he wanted that is) to be like God. Notice the many “I will...” statements in (Isaiah 14:12-15) (Ezekiel 28:12-15).
The only person who could claim this sinless and Holy nature is Jesus Christ himself who is God in the flesh.
Two very important biblical truths to understand about Jesus.
1. Jesus Christ is the only one who had a supernatural miraculous virgin birth (Matthew 1:18-25) (Luke 1:26-35). This is why He is the only one who is sinless, (and therefore He is the only one who qualifies to be man’s sinless Savior and Redeemer). No one other than Jesus Christ himself has had or ever will have a supernatural miraculous virgin birth. The Birth of Jesus was a supernatural act of a Holy God! It can never be duplicated. King Jesus is unique above all others.
The bible says that all human beings on this earth are born into sin (Psalm 51:5). Well, Jesus was not the result of sexual intercourse between a husband and his wife. If He had been, his blood would have been tainted and defiled by sin. Why is this one may ask? This is because all are sinners. Mary was a virgin and never had sex with any man before Jesus was born. This means she was pregnant with Jesus without performing any sexual relations of any kind. God himself is the One who placed Jesus His Son inside Mary’s womb.
2. Jesus pre - existed as God before his incarnation (This means Jesus was God before He came to this earth in human flesh). The Bible tells us that God became a man in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus came down from Heaven. He did not come from this earth. The Holy Scriptures in (Colossians 1:15) tells us that He Jesus Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. Did you really understand that biblical truth? Wow what an amazing revelation from the Spirit of God!
He (Jesus) came from God the Father (John 1:14) (John 6:46) (John 7:29) (John 8:42) (John 13:1-3) (John 16:30-31) (John 17:8). This is because if you've seen Jesus you've seen God! For Jesus is God in the flesh (John 1:1-3, 14) (Philippians 2:6-11) (John 20:28) (Hebrews 1:8). Jesus said, "If you've seen me you've seen the Father (John 14:7-11)." Why? This is because He (Jesus Christ) is the visible image of the invisible God. Read (Colossians 1:15).
It’s very important to understand that Jesus was God before His incarnation, and it’s also just as important to understand that He Jesus came down from heaven (John 3:13) (John 6:38). Combining these two biblical truths from Scripture you will then understand why and how Jesus alone is sinless. For example, why is Jesus sinless one may ask? He’s sinless because He is God in human flesh, and He is the epitome of glorious perfection. For example, a person may ask how then Is Jesus sinless If he was born from a sinful woman named Mary? He is sinless because He did not come from Mary, He came from God the Father out of heaven. God the Father is the one by His Spirit that placed Jesus His Son into Mary’s womb. So that which was born out of her womb would be The Son of the most High God (Luke 1:26-35)! Jesus was/is sinless God wrapped up in human flesh!
No man that is right with the Lord would ever dare think of claiming that he is sinless! It’s just not being honest and truthful with yourself let alone being truthful to God. How deceived must one truly be to say that he or she is sinless! No apostle or prophet of God in the Bible has ever claimed such a sinless condition. In fact, these holy men of God in the Bible claimed the exact opposite!
In fact, the closer I get to the Lord I’ve found out that I’m not sinless but rather the opposite is true. The closer I get to my Lord Jesus I don’t think I’m sinless I realize how sinful and wicked I am and am in need of his divine mercy and grace. This is because in His presence, I see his beauty, his perfection, his holiness, his righteousness, his light, and I realize I am on holy ground and do not deserve to be standing before this Holy God. Considering his glorious light in light of his glorious majestic perfection He exposes all my darkness and wicked deeds. When I confess my sin before him and trust in Jesus to cleanse me through his shed blood on the cross, then a tidal wave (as it were) of God’s goodness washes over me like a flood. When I ask God to forgive me through Christ, He cleanses me, forgives me, loves me, wraps his loving arms around me, He rains down grace, grace, and more grace upon me. He shows me mercy and love. He absolutely overwhelms me (in a good way) with His love. He loves me with love (Did you really understand what I just said?) He clothes me in his righteousness, He clothes me with Christ. Yes, indeed the closer I get to God I don’t declare I’m sinless in fact the opposite is true, I know I don’t deserve to be saved, I know this all too well. I see how sinful I am, and I need his continued grace and mercy in my life. Yes, the closer I get to him I am being changed into becoming more and more like him (Christ). The closer I get to him I love the things He loves and hates the things he hates. However, with all that said I am still weakened by my sinful nature and am in continual desperate need of his grace and mercy in my life. If I don’t yield any area of my life to His Spirit, I am sure to fail and stumble. The Longer I walk with the Lord Jesus the more evident I’m seeing this to be true in my life. The Bible says that The Person of The Holy Spirit is the believer’s Comforter, Counselor, and Guide (John 14:16-17, 26) (John 15:26) (John 16:7-15). I desperately need the Person of The Holy Spirit every moment of every day to be my Comforter, Counselor, and Guide and so do you. So, two things are happening at the same time as I grow closer to the Lord Jesus (as I grow in my intimate love relationship with Christ). First, I see how desperate I am in need of his grace and mercy in my life because in light of his glorious perfection and Holiness I am humbled and I see how sinful I am, and Second, As I behold the face of Jesus I’m being changed more and more into Christ likeness (that is) I’m becoming more and more like Him (Christ).
People of the world the sin nature is never eradicated in this life (Romans 6:11-13; 8:2, 4, 12-13; Galatians 5:16-23; Ephesians 4:22-24; Colossians 2:1-10; 1 Peter 1:14-16; 1 John 1:4-7; 3:5-9). Even those who have already been declared righteous by God (because of their faith) can sin after they are saved, and they will. To say that Christians don’t sin would be a lie. Christians are not perfect and sinless like Christ. However, believers in Christ are forgiven completely and totally by a gracious, merciful, and loving God who has saved them because of their faith in Jesus His Son and not because of their works or good deeds. How can this be one may ask? How is it possible that Christians can sin even after they are born again? This is because we still have a sinful nature that we wrestle with daily and go to war with by the Spirit of God. And as long as we are in these sinful tainted defiled bodies, we must deny ourselves daily, take up our cross and follow Christ (Luke 9:23). We must humble ourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God (1 Peter 5:7) (Luke 18:14) and we must crucify our sinful desires and sinful passions by the Spirit of God (Romans 8:13-14) (Galatians 5:24). What did the men of God say in the bible? Has any man of God, prophet of God, or apostle of God ever claimed to be sinless at any time? The answer is a resounding no! Let’s see here below what the Bible has to say about this matter.
Old Testament
Isaiah (What did the prophet Isaiah say about himself?). Read (Isaiah 6:5)
Isaiah 6
6 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
4 And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
5 Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
-David (What did David the prophet, king, and priest say about himself? And what did he say about man in general)? Read (Psalm 51:5) (Psalm 8:5).
Psalm 51:5
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Psalm 8:5
4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
-Solomon (What did Solomon say about himself and man in general?)
In the Bible Solomon was given supernatural wisdom from God himself. His wisdom was so great it was so far beyond any other human of his day. He was the wisest man on earth at that time! So, with that being said, it will be very interesting to hear what God says through him about the sinless condition of us humans. Read (Ecclesiastes 7:20).
Ecclesiastes 7:20
20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
It just doesn’t get any plainer and clearer than that.
- Adam and Eve sinned (Genesis 3:1-19)
- Noah sinned (Genesis 9:21-29)
- Abraham sinned (Genesis 12:11-20)
- Moses sinned (Numbers 20:1-29)
- Job sinned (Job 42:1-17)
- Isaiah sinned (Isaiah 6:5)
- David sinned (Psalm 51:5) (2 Samuel 11:1-27)
- Solomon sinned even though he had supernatural wisdom from God! Read (Ecclesiastes 7:20) (1 Kings 3:1-15) (1 Kings 4:29).
These are just some of the Old Testament sinners! I could go on and on and on. Are you seeing a pattern? I surely do, for all are sinners. No matter how close these men and women were to God they all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory at some point in time in their lives. Yes, indeed people of the world all of us humans are sinners (Romans 3:23). The bible is true no one is righteous no not one (Romans 3:10)! This is why the Bible says, “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not (Ecclesiastes 7:20).”
What did the Lord God say about the human heart in (Jeremiah 17:9)? Let us read the Holy Scriptures here below to find out.
Jeremiah 17:9
9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
New Testament
-The Apostle Paul (what did Paul say about himself?) Paul is arguably one of the most dedicated passionate followers of Jesus Christ to ever live. God used him powerfully and mightily in his day to present the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. The Holy Spirit used him to write at least 2/3 of the New Testament! So, it will be very interesting to see what he declares of himself. Did the Apostle Paul ever declare of himself to be sinless and perfect? Look Here below and let us go through the word of God together to find out our answer.
The Apostle Paul himself said that he struggled with sin. Proof from the word of God here below.
Romans 7:14-25
Struggling with Sin
14 So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin. 15 I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. 16 But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good. 17 So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.
18 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[d] I want to do what is right, but I can’t. 19 I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. 20 But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.
21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power[e] within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin .
Philippians 3:12-14
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
Hebrews 12:1
12 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
1 Timothy 1:15
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
-The Disciple Peter (What did the disciple Peter declare of himself?) Peter told Jesus to get away from him for he is a sinful man! Read (Luke 5:8).
Luke 5:8
8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
The Disciple Peter who confessed Jesus Christ to be the Messiah The Only Begotten Son of God (Matthew 16:15-17), later denied this same Jesus three times (Matthew 26:73-75). This is proof that even the Disciple Peter sinned and claimed himself to be a sinner. Peter never said that he was sinless. People of the world no apostle or true prophet of God will ever say such a thing! Wake up and let Christ (the one and only sinless Savior) Shine on you (Ephesians 5:14).
Again, the Disciple Peter said to Jesus get away from me Lord for I am a sinful man! This is much different than mere mortals in this life claiming to be sinless!
-The Disciple Thomas (Did Thomas the disciple at first believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ? The answer is no he did not!)
Thomas a disciple of Jesus did not even believe that He (Jesus) bodily arose from the dead! It wasn’t until Jesus himself appeared to him physically to prove his bodily resurrection (John 20:24-29) that he then believed! His unbelief in Jesus’ bodily resurrection was indeed a sin because anything not done in faith is sin (Romans 14:23). However, Jesus loved him so much and loves (you and I) so much that He wanted to prove and seal once and for all that He is who He says He is, and that He is indeed Lord and God as well as the Resurrection and the Life (John 11:25-26) (John 20:28-31)!
-Mary (what did Mary the earthly mother of Jesus say about herself?) Did Mary ever claim herself to be sinless? Read (Luke 1:46-47) for your answer.
Luke 1:46-47
46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, 47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
Did you see that revelation from the Spirit of God revealed to us in Luke 1:46-47? Sinless people do not need a Savior. For example, the righteous sinless angels do not need a Savior. Jesus did not die on the cross for angels He died on the cross for human sinners. The fact that she says she rejoices in God her Savior (Luke 1:47) proves two things. First, it proves that she herself is not sinless regardless of how many false prophets say so in our day. It also proves that she cannot save herself. If she could save herself, she wouldn’t need a Savior. Again, sinless people do not need a Savior only sinners do.
Second, If It’s true that Mary herself is a sinner who cannot save herself from her own sinful condition, then it’s also true that she cannot save anyone else either! Why is this one may ask? This is because she is a sinner just like you are, and she also is one who needs God (In Christ) to be her Savior and Redeemer. A sinner cannot save another sinner. All of us sinners need Jesus’ forgiveness and cleansing by his perfect pure shed blood that was shed for us guilty sinners on the cross. All of us sinners are in the same boat and we all need to come to God the same way, and that way (people of the world) is through the Person of Jesus Christ The Son of the living God.
Jesus said in John 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jesus said in John 10:9
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved,
Acts 4:12
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
-John the Baptist (what did John the Baptist say about himself?) The reason that I’m mentioning John the Baptist is because Jesus himself said that there is no one born of woman greater than him (Matthew 11:10-11). Jesus also said though that the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John. So how he (John) views himself is important. Does John ever claim that he is sinless or worthy to be compared to Jesus? Let’s found out from the Holy Scriptures here below.
Matthew 3:11-17
11 “I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. 12 He is ready to separate the chaff from the wheat with his winnowing fork. Then he will clean up the threshing area, gathering the wheat into his barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire.”
The Baptism of Jesus
13 Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?”
15 But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him.
16 After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”
John 1:19-36
The Testimony of John the Baptist
19 This was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders sent priests and Temple assistants from Jerusalem to ask John, “Who are you?” 20 He came right out and said, “I am not the Messiah.”
21 “Well then, who are you?” they asked. “Are you Elijah?”
“No,” he replied.
“Are you the Prophet we are expecting?”
“No.”
22 “Then who are you? We need an answer for those who sent us. What do you have to say about yourself?”
23 John replied in the words of the prophet Isaiah:
“I am a voice shouting in the wilderness,
‘Clear the way for the LORD’s coming!”
24 Then the Pharisees who had been sent 25 asked him, “If you aren’t the Messiah or Elijah or the Prophet, what right do you have to baptize?”
26 John told them, “I baptize with water, but right here in the crowd is someone you do not recognize. 27 Though his ministry follows mine, I’m not even worthy to be his slave and untie the straps of his sandal.”
28 This encounter took place in Bethany, an area east of the Jordan River, where John was baptizing.
Jesus, the Lamb of God
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘A man is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’ 31 I did not recognize him as the Messiah, but I have been baptizing with water so that he might be revealed to Israel.”
32 Then John testified, “I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting upon him. 33 I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.”
The First Disciples
35 The following day John was again standing with two of his disciples. 36 As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!”
Three key bible truths to remember about John the Baptist.
1. He doesn’t even say he is a prophet even though he was a great one, He doesn’t try to advertise his name or to make himself famous. He just said I am a voice.
Again, he says I am a voice shouting in the wilderness, "Clear the way for the LORD’s coming!” He’s basically saying don’t look for me look for the Lord Jesus for He is coming! Did you get that? That is a prophetic word for anyone who has ears to hear! The Lord Jesus is coming!
2. John said he is not worthy to be Jesus’ slave not even worthy to untie the sandals on Jesus’ feet.
3. John when he saw Jesus told the world look there is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! If John thought, he was sinless he would have said everyone look at me for I am sinless, and I am the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! No, John did not say that. For He said Jesus is the Lamb of God and told everyone to look to gaze your sights on Jesus. Men of God always point, they always glorify, they always fix their gaze on Jesus.
I have already proven to you from the Word of God that Jesus Christ is the only one in all the world who is sinless. The only one. Therefore, if anyone claims that they do not sin (even if they supposedly call themselves Christians), and if or anyone claims that they have never sinned, they are liars and they have also just called God himself a liar. And we know that God cannot lie. For proof that God cannot lie just look at proven Scriptures below.
Hebrews 6:18 (NLT)
18So God has given us both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can take new courage, for we can hold on to his promise with confidence.
(Romans 3:4) (NLT)
4Of course not! Though everyone else in the world is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say, "He will be proved right in what he says, and he will win his case in court."
It just doesn't get any plainer and clearer than that.
Summary
To be sinless and perfect you must do all these 10 biblical truths here below perfectly without fail. Let’s go through them quickly together to see if we can do them all simultaneously.
1. To be sinless You must be perfect in word (this means everything you say must be perfect).
2. To be sinless You must be perfect in thought (this means all your thoughts must be pure and perfect).
3. To be sinless You must be perfect in deed (this means everything you do must be perfect).
4. To be sinless You must be perfect in all your motives and intentions (It’s not good enough just to be perfect in all your words thoughts and deeds. You also must be perfect in all your motives and intentions as well. This means that all your motives and intentions for doing any given thing must be pure and perfect).
5. To be sinless You must be perfect in Loving the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength (this means you must Love the Lord God perfectly without fail).
6. To be sinless You must be perfect in Loving your neighbor as yourself (this means you must Love your neighbor putting them above your own interests and loving them as Christ loved you).
7. To be sinless You must have perfect faith in all situations because the bible says anything not done in faith in sin (this means you must have perfect faith and cannot doubt God at any given time for any reason). Unbelief in God is indeed a sin.
8. To be sinless You must deny yourself take up your cross daily and follow Christ (This is a daily task that you must do perfectly without fail).
Why does Jesus say If any man wants to follow Him that I have to deny myself? It is because I am sinful, self - centered, and prideful. It is because my heart is deceitful and desperately wicked that’s why. If I was sinless and Christ centered 100% of the time, I wouldn’t have to deny myself.
9. To be sinless You must Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
So, this passage of Scripture in (Proverbs 3:5-6) tells us three biblical truths in just two verses!
1. I must trust in the Lord with all my heart
2. I must not lean unto my own understanding.
If I am truly sinless and perfect as these Advocates of sinless perfection proclaim why then must I not lean unto my own understanding?
3. In all my ways (not some of them) I must acknowledge Him
10. You must share the gospel (by the leading of God’s Spirit) if you are a believer in Jesus. Not sharing the gospel when the Holy Spirit prompts you to do so is indeed a sin. It’s called rebellion and disobedience. This is because The Person of The Holy Spirit who is God knows all things about all things and He has something in mind If He prompts you (the believer in Christ) to do so. Remember God is a redemptive God, He is a restorer, and He (God) is a God of purpose. So, If God tells you to do something there is indeed a good reason for it. Again, I say you must share the gospel of Jesus (by the leading of God’s Spirit) If you are a believer in Jesus Christ. Why is this one may ask? This is because God has called us (his children) to be his ambassadors in this lost and dying world (2 Corinthians 5:19-21), so God (through Jesus) has commanded us to go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature and to every nation (Mark 16:15). Sharing the gospel with unbelievers is a command of Jesus (that is, It is a command for Christ followers) It is not an option nor a suggestion. God means what He says and says what He means. So, this means It is indeed a sin if a believer in Christ neglects to shares the gospel of Jesus Christ with unbelievers when prompted to do so by the Holy Spirit. You would be disobeying the command of God by not sharing in the Great Commission to a lost and dying world.
To be sinless you must do all these 10 biblical truths perfectly without fail. Did you really grasp what I just said? You must operate these 10 biblical truths perfectly 24/7 365 days a year, and you must do them perfectly and simultaneously without fail! How overwhelming is that? Thanks be to God that we are not saved by our works or by the doing of good deeds! The Bible says we are saved by the grace of God through our faith in His Only Begotten Son the Lord Jesus Christ (who is the one and only Savior of the world). Read (John 3:16) (John 4:42) (John 20:31) (Ephesians 2:8-9) (1 John 4:14). Our faith and trust in Jesus the sinless Savior declares us sinners to be right with a Holy God forever. Read (John 1:12) (Romans 1:16-17) (Romans 10:9-10) (Acts 10:43) (Acts 13:38) (1 John 5:11-13) (Galatians 3:26)! Hallelujah!
Who born from this earth can possibly do all these 10 biblical truths simultaneously and perfectly every moment of everyday without fail? No one! I tell you based on the authority on God’s word that it is absolutely 110% impossible to do this because of our sinful nature. I tell you that no Apostle/Disciple, nor prophet, nor man of God in the Holy Bible did this. No matter how close they were to God no human being born from this earth ever did this, No not one. Why not one may ask? It’s because the bible teaches that all of us humans who were born from the earth are born into sin. The Apostle Paul said that sin dwells in our flesh and that there is no good thing that dwells within us (Romans 7:14-25).
Yes, the bible does indeed say we are like Christ in this world (1 John 4:17). The keyword is LIKE. We are not Jesus and never will be in this life nor in the life to come. We are like him in the sense that now we are forever a son of God (a child of God that is) who now has the same Father who calls God Abba. Jesus’ Father is now our Father by right and adoption because we have placed our faith in His death, burial, and bodily resurrection (John 1:12) (Galatians3:26) (Galatians 4:6) (Romans 8:15) (Mark 14:36) (Revelation 21:7).
We are like him in the sense that we are now seated in Him in heavenly places because we believed in His death, burial, and bodily resurrection. The bible says that God has blessed us believers in Jesus with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3)!
When Jesus was on the earth, He said He is The Light of the world (John 8:12). Now that He Jesus is in heaven interceding for us believers who trust in him alone for salvation (Romans 8:34), we his children are now the light in the world (Philippians 2:15). The Light of the world lives in us believers in Christ. Jesus that is lives in us believers and his light shines through us whether we know this or not. We are Christ’s ambassadors telling the world to turn to Jesus be reconciled to God through him Christ (2 Corinthians 18-21).
Also, the bible does say with God all things are possible this is true. But we need to know what Jesus was talking about when he said those words. This is true for with God all things are indeed possible, but this is not true for man. All things are not possible with man. For example, it is impossible for man to save himself from his own sinful condition. Yes indeed, It is impossible for man to be sinless in this life even God says so in his Word! That verse must be read within the right context. When Jesus said with God all things are possible in (Matthew 19:16-26) he was talking about salvation. He was saying salvation cannot be gained by any of man’s efforts (Why is this one may ask? This is because the bible clearly says salvation is not by works and that we have no righteousness of our own (Ephesians 2:8-9) (Philippians 3:9) (Isaiah 64:6). In other words, it is impossible for man to earn salvation but with God salvation is possible. It is very clear that this is exactly was Jesus was saying and referring to in that passage of Scripture. It is very important to read the word of God in its correct context. Now let’s go on…………
So yes, we believers in Jesus are like Christ in many ways but we are not sinless in this life. Believer’s in Jesus Christ have been saved from the eternal penalty of our sins when we placed our trust and faith in Jesus the sinless Savior this is indeed true, However the presence and power of sin still exists. You and I are still capable of sinning royally and If you don’t think this is true then you are terribly deceived. This is precisely why Jesus tells us to deny ourselves take up our cross daily and follow Him (Luke 9:23).
Our spirits have been renewed by God if we believe in Jesus but not our sinful tainted defiled bodies. We have indeed been born again if we have trusted in Jesus alone for our salvation through the cross. We believers in Jesus Christ do indeed have a new Spirit within us this is true (He is the Holy Spirit) but we do not have a new body yet. So, to make it plain our spirits have been born again but not our bodies.
Now in the new heavens and in the new earth we will be sinless because we will then receive our new glorified bodies from God. We will rule and reign with Jesus in this new heaven and new earth forever. In this new heaven and new earth there will be no more sin, no more death, no more fear nor pain, no more sorrow nor tears, no more sickness nor disease (Revelation 21:4). Hallelujah. What a day that will be to see our Savior Jesus face to face, to live in that perfect world and to live in His perfect love for all of eternity. The Holy Scripture says that in the Lord’s presence there is the fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11)!
Jesus said whichever one among you that is without sin may cast the first stone at her (John 8:7). So Here Jesus is pointing out that all the people in the crowd as well as the whole world is guilty of sin (that is that all are sinners). No one threw a stone at the adulterous woman because all of them has sin (that is present tense. This means that all people currently right now have sin in their lives whether they know it or not and this includes you and me). Here Jesus proved all are sinful just like that adulterous woman. Jesus did not say whichever one among you that has never sinned cast the first stone at her even though all have sinned in the past as well. Rather He Jesus said whichever one among you that is without sin (meaning right now present tense) may cast the first stone at her. Wow!
Jesus also said to the people of the world “46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me (John 8:46)? So here Jesus is pointing out to the crowd and to all of us as well that He alone is sinless and challenges anyone to convince him of sin. No one in all the world could name a single sin that he (Jesus) has ever committed! So, the revelation is this, In (John 8:7) Jesus is proving that no man is (currently) sinless and that all are guilty of sin just like that adulterous woman. In (John 8:46) Jesus is proving to the crowd and to the rest of the world that He alone is sinless and that no one can bring a truthful sinful charge against him! No one in all the earth could honestly say that Jesus has ever sinned (Luke 23:4, 15,22)!
So how should one view themselves according to the bible? Read (Luke 18:9-14) for your answer.
Luke 18:9-14
9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
The Bible says everyone that exalts himself shall be humbled and everyone who humbles themselves before God will be exalted. Anyone who says they are sinless and perfect is exalting themselves before God. The correct response for us sinners should be just like this publican in (Luke 18:13). We should respond Lord God be merciful to me a sinner. Save me Lord Jesus Save me. Yes, have mercy on me Jesus and save me. Anyone who has that humbled response will be justified by God and will be saved.
So, what key vital bible truths have we learned in today’s bible study?
We’ve learned that all human beings are born into sin and are born with a sinful nature.
We’ve learned that the sinful nature is never eradicated in this life.
We’ve learned that Jesus was God before His incarnation. That is that Jesus was God before He came to this earth.
We’ve learned that Jesus Christ came down from heaven. He did not originally come from this earth.
We’ve learned that Jesus is the only one who had a supernatural miraculous virgin birth.
We’ve learned that Jesus alone is sinless, and this is because He Himself is God in human flesh.
We’ve learned that no human except for Jesus Christ can ever be sinless in this life.
We’ve learned that He Jesus Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.
We’ve learned that we should have a humble attitude towards a Holy God. We should say like that publican in scripture Have mercy on me Lord Jesus cause I’m a sinner. This is the right response that God is pleased with.
We’ve learned that no one is Like The Triune God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). He is in a category all by himself. No one is like the Lord nor is anyone equal to him.
We’ve learned that no apostle, prophet, nor man of God anywhere in the whole Bible ever claimed to be sinless. In fact, they all claimed the exact opposite and to the extreme! They all declared that they were utterly sinful, weak, and unclean before a Holy God and needed His salvation.
We’ve learned that we need the grace of God to be saved initially and we need the grace of God to keep us saved. Why? This is because we all are sinners who sin against God constantly knowingly and unknowingly!
We’ve learned that we are not saved by our works nor by the doing of our own good deeds.
We've learned that we have no righteousness of our own. That we need His (Jesus') Righteousness to cover us guilty sinners!
We’ve learned that we are saved by the grace of God through our faith in God’s Only Begotten Son the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did for us guilty sinners there at the cross. Through faith in Jesus’ death on the cross, burial, and bodily resurrection we will be forgiven of all our sins by God and be given a free gift we don’t deserve which is everlasting life through the sinless Savior Christ Jesus our Lord.
We’ve learned that the Advocates of sinless perfection is preaching false doctrine and that their false teachings are in direct conflict with the Holy Scriptures and with a Holy God.
We’ve learned that this teaching of the sinlessness of us humans does not come from the Lord God but rather from demons.
We’ve learned that the sinless Savior Jesus is unique and that there is no one like Him. There is no one like the Lord Jesus no not one.
We’ve learned that Jesus is to be worshipped why is this one may ask? This is because He Jesus is God in human flesh (John 1:1-3, 14) (Philippians 2:6-11) (John 20:28) (Hebrews 1:8) (Colossians 1:15), He is our holy high priest who is blameless (Hebrews 7:26), He is the Righteous One (1 John 2:1), He is the sinner’s Savior (John 4:42) (1 John 4:14) (Acts 4:12), He is the Messiah (The Anointed and chosen one of God) (Matthew 16:13-17) (Matthew 26:63-64) (John 20:31). He is the sinless Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29-36) and He is so Holy and blameless that He’s set apart from sinners (Hebrews 7:26).
1 John 1:8-10 says
8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.
